What to Expect From a Consultation

A first consultation usually runs 30 to 60 minutes. We will ask you about:

• Your sources and amount of income for the last six months.
• The debts you owe — secured, unsecured, priority, and any judgments or garnishments.
• What you own — home, vehicles, retirement accounts, bank accounts, business interests, anticipated inheritances.
• Recent transfers, large payments to family members, and any pre-filing planning you have already done.
• Your goals — keeping a house, keeping a car, stopping garnishment, dealing with a particular creditor.

At the end of the consultation you will have a clear recommendation: Chapter 7, Chapter 13, Chapter 11, a non-bankruptcy alternative, or no action at all. If you decide to retain us, we provide a written engagement letter that quotes the all-in fee for the case.

Our office is in Midtown Manhattan, at 31 West 34th Street, Suite 7058, New York, NY 10001 — one block from Herald Square, the 34th Street-Herald Square subway station (B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, W), and Penn Station. Most consultations can also be done by phone or video.
